workers and workplaces across the globe are adapting to the challenges presented by covid-19

SHRM is working to provide our members and the entire business community with the latest tools, resources and information to manage COVID-19 in your workplaces.

Local, State and Federal government are moving at an unprecedented pace to combat COVID-19 and are considering policies that will directly impact HR and the entire business community. The response to COVID-19 is an important reminder of why HR’s voice needs to be heard by policymakers on all matters affecting work, workers and workplaces.

Important COVID-19 Legislative Updates

On April 20th, SHRM sent a letter to Congressional leaders outlining its members’ policy priorities. SHRM President & CEO Johnny C. Taylor, Jr. and SHRM Head of Government Affairs, Emily M. Dickens wrote:

“During this public health crisis our members are leading their organizational response to COVID-19 and will continue to shepherd employers and employees through the post pandemic recovery. Therefore as Congress develops additional COVID-19 relief legislation, SHRM urges policymakers to consider the following issues which are important to our members.”

These include:

  • Small Businesses
  • Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs)
  • Paid Leave
  • Job Share Programs
  • Unemployment Insurance
