Emily M. Dickens, Head of SHRM Government Affairs, participated in a UN Women webinar “COVID-19 and Gender Equality: What Can the Private Sector Do?”. Panelists discussed the need for employers to communicate, show compassion, and connect with their employees during these times.
“Whether it’s the coronavirus, a declining stock market or disappointing job reports, it is the role of HR to support employees during uncertain and stressful times,” said Dickens. “Strong and open workplace cultures are even more important when times are tough.” Topics also included how workplace flexibility and leave policies have changed amid COVID-19, and how women should take the lead in creating more inclusive workplaces.
